About this photo:
This was taken on the Pine Canyon trail late in the afternoon. For me, this captures a few essential elements of hiking in Big Bend: a rocky path through the desert, century plant, yucca plants, cactus, mountains, clear blue sky, and my wife leaving me behind as I take photos. If you look down the trail you can barely see her :-)
Again I use the same technique: short focal length and small aperture. I don't think I squatted down to take this photo, but I wish I had. That would have made the century plant seem a little more dominant, and would have emphasized the trail a little more.
