Location: Big Bend National Park, Texas About this photo:

There is a natural hot springs along the banks of the Rio Grande in Big Bend. My wife and I decided to visit the springs and perhaps swim in them. The springs turned out to be very small, and they are sectioned off by low rock walls. At the time of our visit, the river was a little swollen and had flowed over the walls.

To get to the springs, you must hike a little ways along the banks of the river. It is a beautiful, lush area, and is sort of an oasis.

As we worked our way to the springs, we encountered a lot of mud. Of course I kept thinking of ZZ Top and Rio Grande Mud :-)

This captures how I like my landscape photos- low to the ground (to catch foreground elements) and a large depth of field (due to a short focal length and small aperture).
