Location: Big Bend National Park, Texas About this photo:

It was hazy during my visit to Big Bend last September (in 2004). This was taken just after sunrise after our first night in the tent.

Prior to this trip, I had studied a lot of photos (taken by other people) of Big Bend and the southwest. One landscape photo style that I really liked, and I kept seeing, was of mountians in a haze or fog. I liked the soft look and the delicate lines and color gradiations that seperate the ridges of each mountain.

So, on that first morning, I found that shot! I used a long focal length to compress and isolate the mountains.
