About this photo:
This view is of the eastern side of the Chisos mountians, taken from the Ernst Tinajas. The sky was cloudy and hazy at sunrise, but the sun managed to peek through from time to time. I watched a horizontal slice of reddish sunlight hit the top of the mountains and then slowly float down the mountain slopes as the sun rose behind me.
I ascended a small hill and set up my tripod. I watched the interesting light for some time. It was beautiful to stand there in the silence of the desert and take in this sight. I zoomed in to isolate the mountians, and to crop out the plain, gray sky and dark foreground.
