A quick note on photography

Photography:

I was quite satisfied with most of these pictures and I'd like to document how I did it.

All of the photos were taken with a Hewlett Packard 315 digital camera (2.1 megapixel) on its lowest setting (640x480 pixels). For pictures used on a website, the lowest image size is usually best. The camera was set on a tripod for most of the pictures.

The pics I most like are the ones with the light tan canvas background. I took them outside on an overcast day. I set the camera up at a range of about 3 feet and did not use the flash.

Anyway, it's worth noting the conditions in which I took the pictures. I'll definitely try to do it again.

Photo Editing:

I cropped the pictures using some photo editing software. Each cropped image was saved in .jpg format with a "quality factor" of about 92%. The images range in size from 60 to 90 KB.

I then created thumbnails by reducing the images to around a 250 pixel witdth. The resulting thumbnail size is 10 KB, give or take 2 KB.

The images are presented on the webpages without any "width" or "height" attributes. This allows the image to appear in its "natural state". I believe this is best for proper viewing of the image. Otherwise distortion can occur and the image will look bad.

The image on the main page (tractor on white background) was done with MS Paintbrush. I had to convert the .jpg file to a .bmp file first. I edited out everthing but the tractor, pixel by pixel. It really didn't take too long!
